Steve resided in St. Bernard Parish for 46 years, and relocated his family and business to Pearl River, La. after Hurricane Katrina. Stephen served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit entities in St. Bernard Parish including the St. Bernard Parish Council on Aging, Kiwanis Foundation of Arabi/St.Bernard, St. Bernard Chapter of the American Red Cross, Knights of Nemesis Parade and Social Club, and was very involved in Operation Merry Christmas and the annual Irish/Italian/Islenos Irish Italian Parade. Stephen is an active volunteer for the Kairos Prison Ministry at Rayburn Correctional Center, current president of Sts. Peter and Paul Antonians Men’s Club, third term, and Driven Youth Organization Ministry board member. Stephen attended St. Louise De Marillac Grammar School, Holy Cross High School (77’), and the University of New Orleans. Stephen has been married to Karen Ruppert Fecke, celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary this year, has two daughters, Brandy Fecke, a Physical Therapy Assistant, and Jenna Fecke Byland, a Licensed Accountant, and is blessed with two grandchildren, Parker Marie and Cameron Joseph Byland. Stephen believes that he has been “abundantly blessed by God”, and follows the teaching of Jesus that states “those that are given much, much will be expected”, thus his desire to be a servant to others.
